Isn't this the same as a pyramid scheme? No. Pyramid schemes are illegal business entities that focus on collecting a “sign-up” fee from members as their primary source of income. Then these new members are taught to recruit and collect sign-up fees from other people that they know or market to. The problem is there is never any real focus on selling a product (sometimes there is never even a product at all), but just on collecting those sign-up fees from new members to join the organization. At IMN there is no sign-up fee of any kind to join our network. We are focused solely on selling our product, good music. You can create a free IMN profile and never pay a dime. You can purchase an album from IMN and never resell a single album. You can even become a Branch and promote an artist with the objective of earning money from your efforts without ever having purchased the album you are promoting! IMN is a legitimate and legal entity that employees a unique business model designed to produce revenue for everyone involved in the network. |

What is the 5-1-5 Formula? It may seem like there is a lot to Industree Music Network and Social Music Sharing™, but the 5-1-5 Formula makes it all really easy.
This is all you have to do to be successful at Industree:
- Find at least 5 new fans or artists every single month that would like to join the music Industree revolution
- Support at least 1 artist every single month by “naming your price” and buying their album or demo
- Stay in constant communication with the 5 Seeds you invited each month and make sure they are all firmly sticking to the formula
YOU MUST STRICTLY ADHERE TO THE 5-1-5 FORMULA IF YOU WANT TO BE SUCCESSFUL AT INDUSTREE! |

What type of a deal do you offer to artists that you sign? Unlike most traditional record labels, we are not interested in tying up the artists we sell for five plus albums, nor do we want to own all the rights to their music. We want the artist to be happy with our services, and if not, we would prefer to part ways amicably. We only ask the artists to commit to a one-album deal at a time, and Industree signed artists get 23% of all album sales. However, like other record labels, we will do everything we can to help our artists in any area of their career possible. This can include, but is not limited to:
- A signing bonus
- Producing a professional album for the artist
- Helping the artist to secure professional management
- Getting their single(s) promoted to radio
- Facilitating a tour(s)
- Premier exposure and marketing on TheIndustree.com
- Opening up stock options (Industree Partner status) to Branches for the artist
- Utilizing any and all resources that we have to help propel the artist's career

Are B.U.D. Artists obligated to accept any record deal that Industree may offer? No. If an Artist is ever offered a record deal from Industree, they will have complete free will as to whether or not they want to accept that offer. Industree makes no obligations and does not retain any of the artist’s rights by virtue of them creating a B.U.D. Artist profile on the Industree website. |
| Top |
What is the difference between an Industree Artist and a B.U.D. Artist? An Industree Artist is any artist that has been voted in by the network and IMN staff as an artist that we want to sign, or any artist that has earned 250,000 Blooms and, therefore, automatically gets offered a record deal with IMN. Much like a traditional record deal, we will produce an album for all Industree artists and do anything possible to increase exposure and generate sales of the artist’s album and further their career (see the question, What type of a deal do you offer to artists that you sign? listed above for further detail). A B.U.D. artist stands for Band U. Develop or Band Under Development and is any artist that has created a profile on IMN and is utilizing IMN’s unique Social Music Sharing™ platform to sell their albums/demos and to help build their fan base. The B.U.D. Artists that do the best in the Popularity and Bloom Charts are the ones that go into the “voting pool” to be voted on by the entire network to decide who will be offered a record deal with Industree Music Network/Industree Records next. Please Note: Even though we will typically vote as to who we sign as a collective community, we reserve the right to sign any artist that we may choose outside of the typical B.U.D. artist voting method in circumstances where we feel it is appropriate to do so. For example, if Elvis turned out to really be alive still and wanted to release his next album on Industree, it probably wouldn't make much sense to have him create a B.U.D. artist profile and go through the typical voting process. We're sure you would all agree that it would probably make more sense to just sign him outright! |

What is a Branch? A Branch is any non-artist who creates a profile on Industree. However, they can also be known as a Branch of a given artist whenever they choose to support an artist by purchasing their album, promoting their album, befriending the artist, or any combination of these. |
| Top |
What are Roots? Roots are the Branches or Artists (up to six) above a member that led to them joining Industree. |
| Top |
What is a Seed? A Seed is someone that you directly invite to join Industree Music Network. |
| Top |
What is a Family Tree? A member's Family Tree is any Branch that is within six degrees of separation underneath them.
Example:
Level 1 (Seed): You invite John as a Branch Level 2: John invites Sally Level 3: Sally invites Mark Level 4: Mark invites Dan Level 5: Dan invites Ryan Level 6: Ryan invites Jay
John, Sally, Mark, Dan, Ryan, and Jay would all be considered a part of your Family Tree and you would get a percentage of every purchase any of them ever make. |

How much do albums cost? At IMN we believe strongly in promoting an artist's complete body of work and not just their singles. However, that is why we also allow you the freedom to name your own price and decide how much you want to pay for any complete album or demo. We just ask that everyone follow our “honor system” suggested retail pricing guideline outlined below when deciding what to pay.
$15 – If it is one of your all time favorite albums $10 - Love it $7.50 - Like it a lot $5 - Like it ok $1.99 - Just wants to add it to your collection

What is the “name your price” recommended amount? We highly recommend that everyone follow our “honor system” guideline when deciding what to pay for an album based on how much you like an album/artist:
$15 – If it is one of your all time favorite albums $10 - Love it $7.50 - Like it a lot $5 - Like it ok $1.99 - Just wants to add it to your collection

What is a Bloom? Blooms are the currency at IMN. Every $1 you earn converts to 10 blooms for you. You can use your Blooms to buy music, merchandise, or cash them out and we will send you a check in the mail or online via paypal if you have a paypal account (please note: a minimum of 200 Blooms, or $20, is required to receive a cash payout)! |

Who gets what percentage of an album sale? This is slightly different depending on whether it was an Industree Artist album sale or a B.U.D. Artist album/demo sale.
If it is an Industree Artist sale:
• 40% of any album sale goes to the Roots of the purchaser • 10% to Industree Partners of that artist • 23% of any album sale goes to the Artist whose album was purchased • 22% of any album sale goes to IMN • 5% of any album sale goes to charity
If it is a B.U.D. Artist sale:
• 40% of any album sale goes to the Roots of the purchaser • 33% of any album/demo sale goes to the Artist whose album was purchased • 22% of any album/demo sale goes to IMN • 5% of any album/demo sale goes to charity
Here is how the 40% in each scenario gets divided up:
Level 1 sales (Seeds) – 20% Level 2 sales – 9% Level 3 sales – 5% Level 4 sales – 3% Level 5 sales – 2% Level 6 sales – 1%
Here is an example of the different levels in the sales chain and their corresponding percentages as they pertain to Branch A. Let’s say:
Level 1 - Branch A invites Branch B Level 2 - Branch B invites Artist Z Level 3 - Artist Z invites Branch C Level 4 - Branch C invites Artist Y Level 5 - Artist Y invites Artist X Level 6 - Artist X invites Branch D
Here is the percentage of the sale that Branch A would receive from any sales that take place:
Level 1 - 20% of whatever Branch B ever purchases Level 2 - 9% of whatever Artist Z ever purchases Level 3 - 5% of whatever Branch C ever purchases Level 4 - 3% of whatever Artist Y ever purchases Level 5 - 2% of whatever Artist X ever purchases Level 6 - 1% of whatever Branch D purchases
Also note, if an Artist is a Root of any given purchaser, they will receive their appropriate percentage even if it is not their album being purchased. If it is that Artist's particular album/demo that was purchased and they are in the sales chain too, then they will get their normal percentage for selling their album/demo plus whatever percentage they should receive based on their Root positioning. |

What do the different Position titles mean? At IMN your position is based on the total number of Blooms you have earned from all album/demo sales in your Family Tree and Artist Tree since joining the network. Below is a breakdown of the different Positions you can attain at IMN:
Promoter 0 to 100 blooms Jr. Public Relations 101 to 250 blooms Public Relations 251 to 500 blooms Public Relations II 501 to 1000 blooms PR Manager 1001 to 2000 blooms A&R Scout 2001 to 3000 blooms A&R Executive 3001 to 4500 blooms Senior A&R Executive 4501 to 6000 blooms Marketing Director 6001 to 8000 blooms Sr. Marketing Director 8001 to 9999 blooms Industree Partner 10000 +

Can you give an example scenario of how much money I might earn from sticking to the 5-1-5 Formula? Let’s say you only invite five people per month to join Industree who end up buying just one album/demo per month and choose to pay $7.50 for it (Which, by the way, we can’t stress to you enough how important it is to Industree's ongoing success that you reinvest in YOUR record label by purchasing at least one album/demo a month). Let’s also say that each of those people has five friends that they invite to Industree and each also buys one album per month for $7.50, and these 25 do the same and so on. Here is how it would all work out in the first month:

11,718 | If you add up your earnings, you can see that you would earn $1,853 your first month. But that is just the beginning, because each month that you invite five more people to IMN, you will increase your earnings by $1,853, as long as the people in your Family Tree continue to support at least one artist each month by purchasing an album/demo. So at month two, you would earn $3,706 and month three you would earn $5,559 and so on. At the end of your first year this exponential growth would end up earning you $144,534! Even if you only earned half, or a quarter of this, that is still a significant amount of money just for having fun working in the music business.
Keep in mind, the key to this formula
being successful is for you to continually set the right example for
your Seeds by supporting at least one artist a month by purchasing an
album/demo. Then of course, you must stay on top of the people you
directly invited to Industree (your Seeds) and make sure that they do
the same.
Invite 5 people a month - Buy 1 album - Make sure the 5 you invited do the same! IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT EVERYONE FOLLOW THIS FORMULA CLOSELY IF THEY WANT TO EARN ANY SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF MONEY ON INDUSTREE!

How do I vote for which artist I want IMN to sign next? How much does my vote count? There are two ways that Branches help pick which artist IMN will sign and promote next. 1) Every time you log into your homepage under the Artist Review section, you will be asked to review/rate new B.U.D. Artists' music. It is important to do this because the Branches scores affect their rankings in the popularity chart rankings which helps determine who goes into the pool of potential artists for IMN Branches to vote on whenever it is time for IMN to sign on a new artist. 2) Once we determine who goes into the pool of potential artists that we may sign, Branches will be asked to vote on which artist out of this group that they would like for us to sign (50% of the vote as to which artist we sign next goes to Branches, 25% goes to the existing Industree signed artists and 25% goes to the IMN management team). However, the weight of a Branches vote is not equal with every other Branch; it is based on how active of a member they are. The more active you are, the more Blooms you will earn and the total number of Blooms you have earned at the time that a voting round begins will be equivalent to one voting point per Bloom in that particular voting cycle. For example, if Branch B has earned 15,000 Blooms to date on the day a new voting round begins, then Branch B’s vote will count for 15,000 voting points. If Branch C has earned 5,000 Blooms to date on the day a new voting round begins then Branch C’s vote will count for 5,000 voting points. |

Why is it crucial to Industree's success that every Branch buy at least one album/demo per month? As a Branch, you can always name your own price for any album/demo on the site, and you are never required to buy anything. However, we can’t stress to you enough how important it is for the ongoing success of YOUR record label that you show your support for at least one artist a month by purchasing their album/demo. Just skip the burger and fries combo meal that you don’t need anyway once a month and support a great artist that you discovered on your record labels website, and then pay whatever price you choose for their album. By showing your support in this way, you will not only help edge them closer to getting signed to Industree in the future if they are a B.U.D. Artist, because they’re gonna rise in the charts thanks to your purchase, but you will also be re-investing in your own company, which every business person knows is essential to do for their business to succeed. And by supporting some or all of the five initial Industree artists by purchasing their albums, well this is even more important, because their success is key to lay the foundation for those B.U.D. artists that will also get signed to Industree one day. You gotta help water the (indus)Tree today, if you want to rest in it's shade in the future, right?! |

How do the Charts work? IMN has 2 different types of chart rankings to monitor the B.U.D. artist’s performance: 1. The Popularity Chart is based on a combination of the B.U.D. artists Branch numbers, new Artist Review scores, daily unique plays and daily unique page views. 2. The Bloom Chart is simply based on how many Blooms a B.U.D. artist has earned. The higher a B.U.D. Artist's Bloom count, the higher they will be in the Bloom Chart. Charts are important because whenever it is time for IMN to sign on the next new artist to produce an album for and promote, the chart toppers are the ones that go into the “voting pool” of potential artists that the network votes on to see who we will sign next. |

How long does it take to get a check when I cash out my Blooms? How long to receive a PayPal Payment? It typically takes between 2-4 weeks to receive a check in the mail but can take as much as 6 weeks. Sometimes it is faster, but accounting only cuts checks every other Friday, and then mail delivery times always vary depending on where you live, how busy the particular season is, etc. You will typically receive payment via PayPal within week of receiving an approved payout request from accounting.

What format can I download the music I buy in? If it is an Industree Artist, you can download either uncompressed .wav files of the albums you purchase or you may choose from a low quality .mp3 (192kbps) compressed file format, medium quality .mp3 (256kbps) or high quality .mp3 (320kbps). If it is a B.U.D. artist, you can only buy their music in .mp3 file format, and the quality level depends on what quality level the artist originally uploaded. |
| Top |
What is your refund policy? We do not offer refunds since you are allowed to listen to any album in its entirety on the IMN website prior to purchasing it and since you cannot really return a file download. If you have an issue downloading an album that you have purchased, our tech team will assist you with that problem and make sure that it gets resolved. |

How do Branches and B.U.D. Artists get paid out for Blooms earned? To get paid all you need to do is go to your Blooms Manager on your homepage and submit a "Payout Request." Then someone from our accounting dept. will contact you in regards to the method of payout you would prefer to receive. |

What is so special about achieving an Industree Partner ranking? To become an Industree Partner should be the goal of every Branch. As you know, 40% of all sales are divided between everyone in the sales chain of any given album or demo sale. But an additional 10% of ALL album sales for any Industree Artist will also be divided evenly between the first 1,000 Branches to earn 10,000 Blooms from selling that artist’s most current album. This is what is known as becoming an Industree Partner with that artist. Once you achieve this status, it means you will get paid on all sales of that given artist even if you are not in the sales chain. However, once you become an Industree Partner by promoting a particular artist’s current album, you will not only earn the Blooms earned from your normal production, as well as your share of that additional 10% with the other 999 Industree Partners, but Industree Partners will also collectively get 10% share in every dollar that artist earns as long as they are actively promoting their current album. This means Industree Partners collectively share 10% of all income that artist earns from touring, merchandising and publishing! It’s like Industree Partners collectively make up 1 additional member in the band and get paid as such. It’s just like having stock in one of your favorite artists. So if you have an Industree Artist(s) that you love and want to make it into this elite group with them, you need to work fast and should probably focus on ways to market and primarily sell that artist(s) most current album immediately! |

What are the tax implications of joining IMN? The Branch has the sole responsibility of reporting, for taxable purposes, any and all monetary gains and/or losses earned through their use of the Industree website. However, any income earned below $600 via Industree in a given calendar year is not taxable according to Federal Law. Upon submitting your first payout request, every Branch will be required to fill out a very simple W9 Form and return it to Industree accounting via fax, mail or email. The W9 Form is required by Federal Law, and is a necessary prerequisite to getting paid for the first time. Once we have the W9 form back from you we will process your payout request. Should a Branch earn (and request) payout of Six Thousand Blooms (6000) or its equivalent of Six Hundred Dollars ($600) total in a given calendar year, Industree will then be required to send that given Branch a 1099 Form at the end of that year that the Branch would then use to claim their income earned from Industree when filing their taxes for the year. Don’t let this intimidate you. It is actually quite simple. The 1099 Form is much like a W-2 Form an employer would give you at the beginning of each year except 1099’s are used for independent contractors (which you are considered to be at Industree) and W-2’s are for regular employees. |

Is there an age limit to become a Branch or B.U.D.? Due to the varying Child Labor Laws, all Branches and B.U.D. Artists are required to be 18 or older. If you are under 18 years old, we recommend that you ask your parents or legal guardian to create an Industree account that you can assist them with. |

What is the Artist Review section about? Artist Review is the process of having a B.U.D. artist reviewed by 1,000 branches upon initially creating their profile. As new B.U.D. artists create profiles, these new artists are reviewed by Branches that prefer their style of music. So if you’re a rock artist, you will only be reviewed by Branches that like rock music. This review is then calculated into an average score and factors into a B.U.D. Artist's ranking in the popularity chart. |

Can I join Industree if I am not in the USA? Yes. Industree Music Network is worldwide. However, if you live abroad and use another currency other than US dollars to make a purchase, it will automatically be converted to US dollars and the standard conversion rate charges will apply. Most credit card companies do this all the time and it is also easily done via PayPal. Also, when you cash out your blooms, we will pay you in US dollars. If you opt to get paid via PayPal, they make it easy to convert US dollars back to your native currency. |

Can I still buy an album/demo if I don't want to create an Industree profile/account? If so, who gets what percentage of my purchase? Yes you can. In the scenario where a non-member navigates to a Branch or Artist's page and clicks "Name Your Price" to purchase an album/demo, the Branch or Artist's page that they chose to purchase from will get the credit as the direct referrer, since the buyer does not have an Industree account. So whoever's page they purchased from would get 20% of the purchase price and their Roots would get their appropriate percentages also. This type of transaction will show up in all the Roots "My Blooms" section as a "Non-Branch Purchase." |
| Top |
What is my Artist Tree? Your Artist Tree is much like your Family Tree, but instead of showing you other Branches that you are connected to, it shows you the Artists that you are either directly or indirectly responsible for inviting to join Industree Music Network. For example, if you invite Branch B and Branch B invites Branch C and Branch C invites Artist X, Artist X will now be in your Artist Tree. Since Artist X is three degrees of separation down from you, this means that you will always receive 5% of any other albums that Artist X may buy. But more importantly, since Artist X will most likely be doing much more selling of their own music rather than buying other artists’ music, is the fact that you will always get 3% of whatever Artist X ever sells to fans they directly invite to Industree since all of these invitees will be four degrees of separation down from you! Since successful artists will always be actively promoting and selling their music, it is very wise to invite as many good artists to Industree as possible because that way you always get a percentage of their invitees purchases! |

What is a B.U.D. Artist? B.U.D. stands for Band U. Develop or Band Under Development. This is any independent artist that is currently sharing their album/demo profits with their fans via Industree. |

How often does Industree sign new artists? Industree is initially starting out with five Industree Artists (Ryan Toby, Try-Be, The Variance, Maiven Bliss and Hipost). We are shooting to sign the sixth artist within 3-6 months of launching the site, and hope to get to the point where we are signing at least one new artist per month by the end of the first year. However, this will ultimately depend on how quickly the site grows. |

As an artist, why would I want to create a B.U.D. Artist profile and make it my primary online hub?
There are three major reasons:
1) Social Music Sharing™ - Instead of going the normal route and selling a limited number of albums/demos via your website and other online stores where sales steadily slow down over time, with Industree you can utilize our Social Music Sharing™ platform and create the exact opposite affect! By sharing the wealth with your existing fans in exchange for them helping to find you new fans, who also are incentivized to find you new fans, and on and on, your fan base continues to constantly grow. Most artists are aware, the primary key to getting to the next level in the music business is to build a big fan base. Build a big enough fan base and everything else is sure to follow. So at Industree, we think it makes a whole lot of sense to share your album/demo sales with your fans, in order to motivate those fans to go to work for you continually helping to generate more album/demo sales by constantly finding you new fans. Industree is the only site on the internet that enables artists to utilize the power of Social Music Sharing™ to help them take their music career to the next level.
2) Make money off other artists music too - Also, any fans that you invite to Industree will most likely end up buying an album (or albums) other than just yours, and of course, you will always get paid for you own album sales, but with Industree you will also get paid for any other artists album/demo purchases the fans that you originally invited to Industree ever make, as well as percentage of the sales from anyone those fans invite, and on and on. So as a B.U.D. Artist, you will actually make money off other artists' music too as long as you are in the Roots of whoever is making the purchase. You can actually end up making extra money, as much money, or possibly even more money from other artists' music than you do off of your own, which you can then invest back into your own music project.
3) Potentially get a record deal - We have two charts on Industree, the Popularity Chart and the Bloom Chart. Every few months we are going to look at the top B.U.D. Artists in these two charts and then collectively vote as to which ones we want to sign to Industree Records next. So you may even earn a record deal in the process. However, if you earn 25,000 Blooms as a B.U.D. Artist, you will automatically be entered into the voting pool for the next Industree signing. If you earn 250,000 Blooms, you automatically get offered a record deal on the spot from Industree Records! |

Does Industree retain any rights to a B.U.D. Artist's material? No. B.U.D. Artists retain 100% ownership and rights to their music that they upload to Industree Music Network. |
| Top |
| As a B.U.D. Artist, can we make money off of other artists album sales? Yes. That is the beauty of the Industree Social Music Sharing™ business model. As an artist, if you invite other artists that you know to Industree, they will be in your Artist Tree (meaning you get a percentage of anything that they ever purchase). However, most bands will be selling music (not buying it) and that’s what is important to you. Because the first thing they will do is invite their existing fan base, who, in turn, will always buy their new material and you will always get a percentage of these sales (and any other purchases their fans ever make). Not to mention, any good artist is always going to keep promoting and inviting others to join Industree, and you will always earn Blooms from these new invitees’ purchases as well. |

Why should I try to invite artists with big followings to IMN? Since you get a percentage of the purchases anyone you invite to join Industree makes, as well as any purchase of the people that they invite makes, this usually translates to a lot of Blooms for you if you invite a big band who signs up. Because the first thing any band is going to do is try and invite all of their existing fan base, who, in turn, will buy the band's album/demo. This means you will get a percentage of every one of those sales since anyone the band invites will now be in your Family Tree. Whether you are a B.U.D. Artist or a Branch, it is just smart to invite bands to Industree in general because they are always going to not only invite their entire fan base to Industree, but they are also going to keep inviting and promoting themselves to new fans which will always lead to more Blooms for you. |

What Charity does Industree donate to? At the same time that we do our first vote to sign the 3rd Industree Artist, we will also collectively vote on a charity to donate all the proceeds that have went into the charity fund up to that point. Every time we vote for a new artist, we will also vote for a new charity to donate the current charity fund amount to. |

Can I create a B.U.D. profile if I am an artist but don’t currently have music to sell? Yes. You can always start generating Branches and letting people know about your project even if you haven’t created an album or demo to sell yet. You can also still invite new members to Industree and earn money from any purchases that they, or anyone else in your Family or Artist Tree makes, which, in turn, can help you raise money to produce an album/demo. |
